Part Number: 8E0 857 740 01C
IMPORTANT FITMENT CHECK
Match 8E085774001C, the mounting eye, cable length, buckle shape, rear-right position and all photographs before ordering. Registration year alone is not sufficient. A B7 first registered in 2009 may still be a 2008-built vehicle.

Where This Part Is Fitted

The assembly mounts beneath the rear seat bench at the vehicle’s right-hand second-row seating position. On a UK right-hand-drive vehicle this is commonly described as OSR or driver-side rear.

What the Buckle Does

The buckle receives and mechanically locks the seat-belt tongue, securing the rear occupant to the vehicle’s restraint system. Pressing the red button releases the tongue. The mounting eye transfers restraint loads to the vehicle body during sudden braking or a collision.

Safety-critical component: never use a buckle that fails to latch positively, releases without the button being pressed, has collision damage, contains broken plastic or has a distorted mounting point.

Compatibility and Fitment Chart

Vehicle Years Body / Chassis Fitment Status
Audi A4 B7 2005–2008 8EC Saloon, 8ED Avant, FWD or Quattro Strongest application. Exact number, appearance and position must match.
Audi A4 B6 2001–2005 8E2 Saloon, 8E5 Avant Conditional application. Buy only when 8E085774001C and the full assembly match.
Audi S4 B6/B7 2004–2008 Saloon or Avant Related catalogue family. VIN and installed-number confirmation required.
Audi RS4 B7 2007–2008 Saloon or Avant Related catalogue family. Exact buckle and catalogue confirmation required.
Best verification method: compare the complete old buckle with the listing photographs and confirm the full moulded number. A registration search by itself can return the wrong generation or seating configuration.

Known Non-Fitment and Exclusions

✕ Audi A4 B8 / 8K models from 2008 onward
✕ Audi A4 B5 / 8D models
✕ Audi A5 8T models
✕ Front seat-belt buckle positions
✕ Rear-left buckle assemblies
✕ A buckle with a different electrical connector, stalk length or mounting eye
✕ Cabriolet models unless the installed number and configuration are confirmed
✕ Any vehicle where the original buckle number does not match or has not been cross-referenced

Symptoms of a Faulty Seat Belt Buckle

The belt tongue will not click or lock into place.
The tongue releases without the red button being pressed.
The red release button sticks, remains depressed or feels loose.
Cracks, impact marks or deformation are visible on the housing.
The steel cable or mounting eye is bent, frayed or corroded.
The buckle sits at the wrong angle or disappears beneath the seat bench.

Some vehicles monitor buckle status electrically. No electrical connector is clearly visible on the photographed assembly, so do not order it to replace a sensor-equipped version unless your existing part is visually identical.

General Fitting Information

Seat belts are safety-critical. Installation by a trained technician is strongly recommended. Use the VIN-specific Audi workshop procedure and tightening torque. Never guess a restraint-system bolt torque.
1. Confirm the replacement and removed buckle are identical before dismantling.
2. Follow the vehicle manufacturer’s safety and battery-disconnection procedure where applicable.
3. Release and remove the rear seat bench without damaging its retaining clips.
4. Expose the rear-right buckle mounting point and note the cable and trim routing.
5. Remove the buckle retaining bolt and lift out the old assembly.
6. Compare the number, bracket, mounting eye, cable length and buckle orientation.
7. Install the replacement in the direction of travel and route it through the correct guides.
8. Use a new mounting bolt where specified and tighten to the VIN-specific workshop value.
9. Refit the seat bench and confirm it is fully engaged in all retainers.
10. Repeatedly test positive latching, retention and button release before carrying passengers.
