Important: buy by part number, position and connector

This listing is for the REAR LEFT door only. On a UK right-hand-drive vehicle this is normally the nearside/passenger-side rear door. The exact number visible on the supplied unit is 8K0 839 015 C. Do not buy using model and year alone. Compare the stamped number, plug, cable layout, body shape and mounting points with your old lock.

This is a used factory-fit electromechanical rear door latch and central-locking actuator assembly. It mounts inside the rear-left door at the trailing edge and secures the door to the body striker while responding to central-locking commands.

Position:
Rear left / NSR / nearside rear on UK vehicles
Part number:
JA6 - 8K0 839 015 C
Operating type:
Electric latch/lock actuator with mechanical cable linkages
Connector:
Catalogue cross-reference indicates a 6-pin electrical connection; physically compare before ordering

Primary confirmed catalogue fitment

The table below is based on the exact visible number 8K0839015C. Vehicle equipment codes can still change the required latch, so the old part number and connector must match or fitment must be confirmed by VIN and PR codes.

Make / model Platform Years Body / position Required checks
Audi A4 / S4 B8 / 8K 2008-2015 Saloon or Avant, rear left only Match 8K0 839 015 C, connector, cable layout and PR equipment
Audi A4 allroad quattro B8 / 8K 2010-2016 5-door estate, rear left only Exact number and VIN/PR-code check required
Audi RS4 Avant quattro B8 / 8K 2013-2016 5-door estate, rear left only Exact number and vehicle equipment must match

Additional catalogue cross-reference vehicles

Do not order for another vehicle from this table alone. The number is catalogued across several VAG/Porsche applications, but body style, PR codes, child-lock type, central-locking equipment and connector details can differ. Send your VIN and a clear photograph of your old latch through eBay Messages before purchase.

This part will not fit

Wrong side or position
Not for front doors and not for the rear-right/offside door.
Wrong A4 generation
Not automatically suitable for A4 B7/8E or A4 B9/8W.
Wrong A5 body
Do not use for a 2-door A5/S5 Coupe or Cabriolet merely because a general catalogue page mentions A5.
Different suffix or equipment
Do not assume 8K0839015D, 8K0839015F, 8K0839015G or another suffix is interchangeable without VIN/PR-code confirmation.
  • Will not fit if your old unit has a different electrical plug, pin arrangement, cable layout or mounting body.
  • May not fit vehicles with different child-safety-lock, keyless-entry, soft-close/power-latching or door-control equipment.
  • Model year, registration number or eBay compatibility alone is not enough for a definitive match.

Five-point buyer fitment check

  1. Confirm the failed lock is in the rear-left door.
  2. Read the full number from your old latch and match 8K0 839 015 C.
  3. Compare the electrical plug shape, keying and pin layout with the actual listing photos.
  4. Compare every cable, lever, bracket and mounting point - not only the plastic housing colour.
  5. If any detail differs, send the VIN and clear photos of both sides of the old part through eBay Messages before ordering.

What this component controls

Mechanical door retention
The latch grips the body striker and keeps the rear-left door securely closed.
Central locking
The integrated actuator changes between locked and unlocked states when commanded by the vehicle.
Handle release
Bowden cables and levers transfer movement from the interior and exterior door handles.
Door-status signalling
Depending on vehicle specification, internal switches can inform the car whether the door is open, closed, locked or safe-locked.

Common symptoms of a failing rear door lock

  • Rear-left door will not lock or unlock from the remote, keyless system or central-locking switch.
  • Intermittent operation, repeated clicking or a lock that works only after several attempts.
  • Door remains shown as open when fully shut, causing a warning, interior light or alarm issue on applicable vehicles.
  • Inside or outside handle releases inconsistently even though the cable is correctly attached.
  • Latch sticks, will not release, will not hold the striker or feels mechanically rough.
  • Child-safety or safe-lock behaviour does not operate as expected, depending on equipment.
A faulty latch can affect vehicle security and safe door closure. Diagnose wiring, fuses, door control modules, broken loom wires and handle cables before replacing the latch, because similar symptoms can have more than one cause.

Used original-fit component

The moulded housing carries visible engineering-material markings including PBT-GF30+ASA, with metal latch parts and cable/lever components. The robust factory-fit design is shaped for the vehicle's original door carrier, striker geometry, connector and control system.

Why choose a used original-fit unit instead of a low-cost pattern copy?

  • Correct factory mounting geometry, cable positions and connector design when the full number matches.
  • Original striker engagement and door-handle travel characteristics.
  • A used part can deliver substantial savings compared with dealer-new pricing; savings vary by part and can sometimes reach around 70%.
  • Reusing an existing serviceable component reduces the demand for new material and manufacturing.

Fitting guide

Safety notice: A door latch is a security and occupant-safety component. The procedure varies by body style and equipment. Professional fitting is recommended. Use manufacturer repair information and torque settings for the exact VIN.
  1. Park safely, raise the window, switch off the ignition and remove the key. Follow vehicle procedures before disconnecting the battery negative terminal where required.
  2. Protect the painted door edge. Remove the rear door-card screws and release the trim clips with plastic tools.
  3. Lift away the door card and disconnect switches, lighting plugs and the interior-handle cable.
  4. Carefully peel back the moisture barrier or remove the inner carrier/access panel as required. Avoid tearing the seal.
  5. Photograph the original cable routing. Disconnect the electrical plug and release the Bowden cables and clips from the latch.
  6. Remove the latch fasteners at the trailing edge of the door using the correct Torx or XZN/triple-square bit.
  7. Withdraw the old latch. Compare part number, connector, levers, cables and mounting points side by side before installing the replacement.
  8. Install the replacement, route cables without kinks and tighten fasteners to the manufacturer's specified torque.
  9. Before refitting the trim, test central locking, interior and exterior handles, child safety lock, door-open indication and alarm behaviour.
  10. Re-seal the moisture barrier completely, refit the door card and clear/check diagnostic fault codes if necessary.

Tools normally required

Plastic trim-removal tools
Torx T20 / T25 / T30 set
Appropriate XZN/triple-square bits
Ratchet, extensions and small sockets
Small pick or flat trim screwdriver
Torque wrench and vehicle repair data
Protective tape, gloves and magnetic tray
Diagnostic scan tool where needed
Butyl sealant if the moisture barrier requires resealing
