Audi A5 8T 08-17 2.0 TDI Bosch MAF Air Flow Meter Sensor 03L906461A
This listing is for a 2.0 TDI common-rail diesel MAF assembly carrying Bosch number 0281002956 and VAG number 03L906461A. Match the number on your old unit before ordering. It is not suitable for 2.0 TFSI petrol engines, even where an automated compatibility table suggests otherwise. Send your VIN, registration and a clear photo of the old part number if you need us to verify fitment.
Item Supplied
You will receive the used Bosch air-mass meter assembly shown in the listing photographs. The housing is marked BOSCH 0 281 002 956 and AUDI/VW 03L 906 461 A. It is a direct replacement only where the original number, connector, housing shape and engine application match.
Where It Fits & What It Does
The MAF sensor is installed in the engine air-intake tract, normally between the air-filter housing and the turbocharger intake pipe. It measures the mass of air entering the engine and sends this information to the engine control unit. The ECU uses the reading to calculate fuelling, boost control, exhaust-gas recirculation and emissions strategy.
Verified Audi A5 Application
| Model | Years | Engine | Chassis / Body | Engine codes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Audi A5 | 2008-2017 | 2.0 TDI diesel | 8T3 Coupe / 8TA Sportback / 8F7 Cabriolet | CGLC, CGLD, CJCA, CJCB, CJCD, CMFA, CMFB, CNHA, CSUA |
Production dates and engine-code availability vary by market. The part number on the old unit is the primary check. A5 body style does not change the sensor where the same 2.0 TDI engine and intake system are fitted.
Other Known VAG Applications
The same cross-reference is used across a wide range of Volkswagen Group 2.0 TDI common-rail vehicles. These are number-based cross-reference applications; confirm the engine code and old unit before ordering.

Will Not Fit
- Audi A5 2.0 TFSI petrol models.
- 3.0 TDI, 2.7 TDI, S5 or RS5 engines.
- Vehicles with a different Bosch/VAG number, connector, bore size or housing design.
- Any application selected only because the model and year appear similar.
Common Symptoms of a Faulty MAF
- Engine-management light or stored airflow plausibility codes.
- Reduced power, hesitation, flat acceleration or limp-home mode.
- Poor fuel economy, rough idle or uneven throttle response.
- Excess smoke, incorrect boost control or regeneration-related issues.
These symptoms can also be caused by air leaks, blocked filters, wiring faults, EGR problems or turbo issues. Proper diagnosis is recommended before replacing the sensor.
Why Choose a Manufacturer-Marked Used Part?
A used Bosch/VAG unit retains the original housing dimensions, calibrated sensing element, airflow direction and connector geometry intended for the vehicle. Cheap unbranded copies can produce inaccurate readings even when they physically fit. Buying a tested used part can also cost substantially less than purchasing new; savings of up to 70% may be possible depending on dealer price and availability.
Fitting Guide
- Switch off the ignition, remove the key and allow the engine to cool.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal if required by the vehicle procedure.
- Locate the MAF housing between the air box and turbo intake pipe.
- Release the electrical connector without pulling on the wiring.
- Loosen the intake-hose clamps and remove any retaining screws.
- Note the airflow-arrow direction, remove the old assembly and inspect seals/hoses.
- Fit the replacement in the same orientation, tighten clamps evenly and reconnect the plug.
- Start the engine, check for air leaks and clear/read fault codes with a suitable scan tool.
Tools normally required: flat screwdriver or 7 mm socket, Torx bits, ratchet, hose-clamp pliers, trim tool and diagnostic scanner. Exact fasteners vary by engine installation.
Estimated fitting time: approximately 20-45 minutes for an experienced technician, subject to access, seized clamps and diagnostic work.
