The basic E92 coupé door structure is not engine-specific, but the fitted wiring, lock, window equipment, door module, speaker specification, comfort access equipment and trim can vary. Matching the vehicle only by “BMW E92” or registration year is not sufficient.
Other E92 models
Other BMW E92 coupé versions may use the same basic front-left door structure, but this complete assembly is not advertised as a confirmed plug-and-play fit for another engine or trim without a VIN and equipment comparison. Buyers of 318i, 320i, 325i, 325d, 330i, 330d, 335i, 335d or M3 vehicles must verify every attached component before purchase.

Part Number Information
| Reference Type | Number | Important Note |
|---|---|---|
| Front-left bare door-shell catalogue reference | 41517200569 | Reference for the underlying bare shell only. Not verified from a readable label on this complete assembly. |
| Earlier superseded bare-shell reference | 41517169435 | Earlier catalogue reference associated with the shell. |
| Complete door assembly | No single verified assembly number | The glass, lock, wiring, trim, regulator and other attached parts can each carry separate numbers. |
Do not purchase this complete door solely from the bare-shell reference. Confirm the E92 coupé body, front-left position, VIN, build date, connectors, trim and optional equipment.

Common Symptoms and Reasons for Changing the Door
Benefits of Buying a Used Original Factory Part
- Manufactured to the original vehicle’s hinge, latch and body-aperture dimensions.
- Correct factory pressing, reinforcement and mounting locations.
- Often provides better panel alignment than a low-cost pattern panel.
- Supplied with useful fitted components shown in the photographs.
- Can cost substantially less than a new dealer-supplied assembly.
- Depending on the part and current new retail price, used-part savings can sometimes reach approximately 70%.
- Reusing an existing door reduces demand for new raw materials, manufacturing energy and unnecessary waste.
Required Tools
- Trim-removal tools
- Torx bit set
- Suitable E-Torx sockets
- Ratchet and extension bars
- 10 mm socket or spanner
- Torque wrench
- Padded door stand or lifting support
- Protective blankets and masking tape
- Multimeter or diagnostic equipment
- Panel-gap measuring tools
- Protective gloves and eye protection
- A second trained person to support the door
General Fitting Instructions
- Compare the original door and the supplied assembly before dismantling.
- Record the existing panel gaps and glass alignment.
- Follow the correct battery-disconnection procedure for the vehicle.
- Protect the front wing, sill and surrounding paintwork.
- Support the original door using a padded door stand or suitable lifting equipment.
- Disconnect the door-to-body electrical connector.
- Release the door check strap and mark the original hinge positions.
- With a second person supporting the weight, remove the hinge fasteners.
- Transfer the mirror and any vehicle-specific lock, module, loom or trim components required.
- Mount the complete door and set the height and panel gaps.
- Tighten all fasteners to the correct BMW workshop specification.
- Reconnect the wiring and test the lock, handle, glass, window switch and speaker operation.
- Initialise the frameless-window function where required.
- Check the glass drop, rise, weather seals, wind noise and water sealing.
A complete coupé door is large, heavy and difficult to align. Incorrect handling can damage the hinges, wing, sill, glass, wiring and painted surfaces. Two-person handling is strongly advised.
Estimated Repair Time and Labour Cost
Estimated workshop time for a straightforward complete-door change, alignment and testing is approximately 2–4 labour hours.
Allow additional time where the mirror, lock, wiring, door module, glass mechanism, trim or other vehicle-specific parts must be transferred. Painting and body preparation are additional.
Labour estimate = garage hourly rate × labour hours
| Garage Hourly Rate | Estimated 2-Hour Labour | Estimated 4-Hour Labour |
|---|---|---|
| £50 per hour | £100 | £200 |
| £60 per hour | £120 | £240 |
| £75 per hour | £150 | £300 |
| £90 per hour | £180 | £360 |
| £110 per hour | £220 | £440 |
