Where it fits and what it controls

This cluster is installed in the dashboard directly in the driver's line of sight, behind the steering wheel. It provides the vehicle's main driving information, including road speed, engine speed, fuel level, coolant temperature, mileage display and warning-lamp information, according to the vehicle's equipment.

The assembly consists mainly of a moulded plastic housing, transparent lens, printed circuit/electronic components, analogue gauges, warning indicators and an electrical connector. Cosmetic marks associated with normal use may be present; study every photograph before purchase.

Why choose a matching used original-equipment unit?

A matching used factory-fitted unit normally offers the correct mounting geometry, connector arrangement, dial layout and dashboard appearance for the vehicle it was designed for. A low-cost pattern or universal unit may require adaptation and may not communicate correctly with the vehicle.

Buying a tested used component can also cost substantially less than a new replacement. Savings vary by part and supplier; always compare the exact part number and specification rather than buying on appearance alone.

Fitting guide

1. Record the original mileage and any warning messages before work begins.
2. Switch off the ignition, remove the key and disconnect the battery negative terminal following manufacturer procedures.
3. Protect the steering column and surrounding trim.
4. Remove the cluster surround carefully with plastic trim tools.
5. Remove the retaining screws and draw the cluster forward without pulling the wiring.
6. Release the electrical connector locking mechanism and compare both units.
7. Install the replacement, reconnect the battery and test every gauge, warning lamp and display function.
8. Complete any required coding/configuration and retain a record of the mileage shown by both units.

Typical tools

Plastic trim-removal tools, small socket set, Torx/Phillips drivers as fitted, battery terminal spanner, protective cloth and a suitable diagnostic scanner where coding or fault clearing is required.

Approx. 0.5–1.0 hour for physical replacement in straightforward conditions. Diagnostics, coding, configuration or mileage-related work may add time.
