What This Part Does
Location and function
The latch is bolted to the front slam panel. It captures the bonnet striker when the bonnet closes, provides the primary lock and works with the secondary safety catch. The cabin release cable moves the release lever so the bonnet can be opened.
This is a mechanical safety component. It should hold the bonnet securely while still releasing smoothly when operated.

Formed and stamped steel body with steel pivot levers, return springs and a protective surface coating. This is a used component and the photographs show age-related marks, wear and visible surface oxidation / corrosion.
