What the Part Does

The fuel-filler flap provides the finished exterior cover over the fuel-cap and filler-neck opening. It helps protect the area from dirt, road spray and accidental contact while maintaining the correct body-panel appearance.

The outer flap itself does not pump fuel and normally does not create an engine warning light. The separate screw-on fuel cap provides the tank seal.

Fitting Guidance

1. Park safely on level ground, switch off the ignition and secure the vehicle.
2. Protect the painted quarter-panel edge with low-tack masking tape.
3. Open the flap and inspect the hinge and fastener arrangement before dismantling.
4. Where rear access is restricted, remove the right rear wheel and loosen or remove the relevant wheel-arch liner section.
5. Release the hinge or retaining fasteners using the correct Torx bit or socket. Do not force an incorrect tool size.
6. Remove the old assembly carefully and retain reusable original fixings if replacements are not supplied.
7. Place both parts side by side and compare the hinge, latch, curvature and mounting points.
8. Install the replacement, initially leaving fasteners slightly loose so the flap can be aligned flush with the body.
9. Tighten evenly without overtightening plastic components.
10. Open and close the flap several times, check clearance and refit the liner and wheel correctly.
