Correct vehicle reference and fitting location
Reference photographs below show the correct Ford Ka II / Mk2 3-door body generation. They are vehicle identification references only and are not photographs of the donor vehicle.

Where this part is fitted
The arm mounts externally to the rear hatch/tailgate wiper-motor spindle. Its job is to carry the rear wiper blade, transfer the motor's movement across the glass, hold the blade at the correct park angle and apply spring pressure so the blade remains in contact with the rear window.

What this part will not fit
- Ford Ka Mk1 / first-generation body where the chassis is not RU8.
- Ford Ka+ / Ka Plus 5-door models.
- Any Ka with a different rear-arm profile, spindle mounting arrangement or engineering/service number.
- Any vehicle being matched only because the registration year overlaps 2008 or 2016.
- Any other manufacturer/model unless the old component can be positively matched by the correct Ford number and physical fitment data.
What the rear wiper arm controls
The rear wiper motor provides the movement, but the arm determines how that movement is transferred to the blade. The arm's geometry, spindle interface and spring force affect blade contact, sweep path and parked position.
Common symptoms of a worn or damaged arm
- Rear glass remains partly unwiped even with a serviceable blade.
- Blade chatters, skips, lifts or loses even contact with the glass.
- Arm is loose on the spindle or slips while the motor is moving.
- Wiper parks too high, too low or at an incorrect angle.
- Visible cracking, distortion or damage around the mounting end.
- Weak spring pressure causes poor wiping performance.
- Incorrect arm geometry causes the blade to sweep the wrong area or approach surrounding trim.
Why choose a Ford-branded original-fit donor component?
A Ford-branded original-fit donor component was designed around the vehicle's intended mounting geometry and operating position. Low-cost pattern alternatives can vary in mould profile, spring tension, spindle interface and parked angle. Matching the correct service/engineering number helps reduce fitment uncertainty and unnecessary returns.
Savings are a general parts-reuse comparison and are not a promise that this individual listing is exactly 70% below a particular new retail price.
Fitting instructions
Required tools
- Protective towel/card to shield glass and paint.
- Masking tape for marking the original blade park position.
- Non-marring trim tool for the spindle-nut cap if required.
- Socket and ratchet correctly sized to your vehicle's retaining nut.
- Penetrating fluid if the old arm is corroded onto the splines.
- Wiper-arm puller if the arm will not release by hand.
- Torque wrench if you have access to the correct Ford workshop tightening specification.
- Gloves and eye protection.
Socket size and retaining-nut torque are intentionally not guessed. Confirm the correct specification for your exact vehicle before tightening.
Step-by-step
- Park the rear wiper normally, switch the ignition off and remove the key/disable the vehicle as appropriate.
- Place masking tape on the glass to mark the existing blade's parked position before removing anything.
- Protect the surrounding glass and paintwork with a towel or suitable non-abrasive cover.
- Carefully lift/remove the plastic spindle-nut cover without forcing brittle trim.
- Loosen the retaining nut. Initially leave a few threads engaged so the arm cannot release suddenly.
- Rock the old arm gently at the spindle. If seized, apply suitable penetrating fluid and use a dedicated wiper-arm puller. Do not lever against the rear glass.
- Remove the nut and old arm, then clean dirt/corrosion from the spindle splines without damaging them.
- Position the replacement arm on the splines so the blade sits at the masking-tape park reference.
- Refit the original retaining hardware and tighten to the correct Ford workshop specification for the vehicle. Refit the cap.
- Fit/transfer the correct rear blade, remove the tape and protection, then test full sweep and park position with the glass wet. Stop immediately if the blade approaches trim or sweeps incorrectly.
Estimated fitting time
Planning estimate: approximately 15-30 minutes for an experienced fitter when the old arm releases normally. Corrosion, damaged spindle splines, previous repairs or diagnosis can increase the time. This is a practical estimate, not a published Ford labour time.
Static garage labour estimator
Because eBay descriptions do not permit active calculators, use this simple formula: hourly labour rate x 0.25 to 0.50 hour.
| Garage hourly rate | 15 min labour | 30 min labour |
|---|---|---|
| £50/hour | £12.50 | £25.00 |
| £60/hour | £15.00 | £30.00 |
| £75/hour | £18.75 | £37.50 |
| £90/hour | £22.50 | £45.00 |
| £100/hour | £25.00 | £50.00 |
| £120/hour | £30.00 | £60.00 |
| £150/hour | £37.50 | £75.00 |
Illustrative labour only. A garage may apply a minimum charge and may add diagnosis, consumables, seized-part time or other applicable charges.
