What This Part Does

This housing forms a sealed junction within the engine cooling circuit. It routes coolant between connected hose sections and the engine / water-pump side of the system while maintaining pressure and flow. Because it operates through repeated hot-cold cycles, ageing plastic, damaged sealing surfaces or stressed hose connections can eventually leak.

3. Position a suitable drain tray and drain coolant below the level of the connector.
4. Photograph the original hose routing. Release hose clips with the correct clamp pliers.
5. Disconnect hoses carefully without levering against brittle plastic. Remove the housing mounting fastener.
6. Clean mating areas. Inspect hoses and renew O-rings, seals or damaged clamps as required.
7. Fit the replacement in the same orientation. Ensure each hose is fully seated and correctly clamped.
8. Refill with coolant of the correct Ford specification and concentration.
9. Bleed the cooling system using the vehicle-specific procedure, run to temperature and check heater operation.
10. Pressure-test for leaks and recheck the level after a complete heat cycle and cool-down.
