The exterior rear-right door handle is mounted through the outer rear door skin. Pulling the handle moves its internal lever and linkage, allowing the rear-door latch to release when the vehicle is unlocked.

General Fitting Instructions

The following is a general fitting guide rather than a substitute for Jaguar workshop information. Installation should be completed by a competent technician.

1 Park securely, remove the ignition key and lower the window if possible.

2 Disconnect the battery where required before unplugging electrical switches. Follow the vehicle manufacturer's battery procedures.

3 Remove the rear-door trim covers, switch trim and visible fasteners.

4 Release the door-card clips using a plastic trim tool, then lift the door card away carefully.

5 Disconnect any electrical plugs and release the interior-handle cable or linkage as required.

6 Peel back the moisture membrane carefully without tearing it.

7 Locate the exterior-handle linkage and disconnect its retaining clip. Photograph the original position first.

8 Support the exterior handle, remove its internal fixings and withdraw the handle without damaging the door paint.

9 Compare both handles side by side. Transfer any reusable gasket or clip only where appropriate.

10 Install the replacement handle, connect the linkage and tighten the fixings evenly. Do not overtighten plastic components.

11 Test outside opening, inside opening, locking and unlocking several times before resealing the membrane and replacing the door card.

12 Reassemble the trim, reconnect the battery where applicable and complete a final operational check.
