What this part does
Finishes the radio opening
Creates the correct visual border around the radio and masks the dashboard mounting edges.
Maintains alignment
Helps the radio fascia and surrounding dashboard present a flush, factory-style fit when the correct clips are engaged.
Reduces unwanted movement
A sound trim with secure clips can reduce gaps, movement and trim-related rattles around the centre console.
Common signs the old surround needs replacement
- Cracked, split or distorted radio aperture
- Broken or missing retaining clips/tabs
- Trim does not sit flush with the dashboard
- Visible gaps around the radio head unit
- Rattling or squeaking from the centre dashboard
- Radio fascia moves when buttons are pressed
- Scratches, peeling finish or severe cosmetic damage
- Previous radio removal has damaged the edge or fixings
Why choose an original manufacturer-installed used part?
Correct geometry
Designed around the vehicle's original dashboard, aperture, clip positions and surface contours.
Better visual match
More likely to match the established grain, sheen and ageing of the surrounding interior than a low-cost pattern copy.
Strong value
A used original part can cost substantially less than a new replacement and may save up to 70%, depending on current new retail price and availability.
Fitting guide
Recommended tools
- Non-marring plastic trim-removal tools
- Small Torx driver set — verify the fastener size before starting
- Radio removal keys if required by the fitted head unit
- Microfibre cloth and low-tack masking tape
- Small torch for clip inspection
Estimated time
Experienced fitter: approximately 30–45 minutes.
DIY allowance: approximately 45–90 minutes, depending on radio type, previous modifications and clip access.
Times are estimates, not a fixed quotation. Stop if resistance suggests a hidden fastener or a non-standard conversion.
- Park safely, switch the ignition off and remove the key. Record any radio security code if the fitted unit requires one.
- Protect adjacent dashboard surfaces with a clean cloth or low-tack tape.
- Remove the radio or adjacent trim only as required for access. Use the correct removal keys or Torx driver for the fitted unit.
- Release the old surround gradually with a plastic trim tool. Work evenly around the perimeter; do not lever heavily from one corner.
- Compare both trims side by side: moulded number, aperture, colour/finish, clip count, clip positions and rear profile must match.
- Transfer any separate reusable clips only where applicable and undamaged.
- Align the replacement trim and press evenly until all clips engage. Do not force a misaligned clip.
- Refit the radio, reconnect any plugs, restore power and check that the trim sits flush without movement or rattles.
