FITTING GUIDE

Suggested tools

Non-marring plastic trim tools, small trim pick, suitable Torx driver set, protective masking tape, inspection light and gloves.

1. Park securely, apply the handbrake and switch the ignition off. Position the gear selector so surrounding trim can be accessed safely.
2. Protect nearby console surfaces with suitable low-tack protection before levering any trim.
3. Carefully release the gear-lever gaiter / adjacent selector trim using a non-marring trim tool where required by your console configuration.
4. Remove the ashtray insert or loose contents if fitted so they cannot fall or obstruct removal.
5. Work progressively around the surround and release the moulded retaining points. Do not twist the panel aggressively; aged interior plastics can become brittle.
6. If your vehicle has separate illumination or another electrical accessory adjacent to the ashtray area, disconnect only that vehicle-side connector after identifying it correctly. The trim assembly shown here is not itself an electronic control unit.
7. Compare the replacement and removed components side by side, checking every mounting tab, aperture and part number before installation.
8. Transfer any separate removable inserts or retainers that are required and not included with the supplied assembly.
9. Align all locating points and press the trim evenly into place. Never force a tab that is visibly out of alignment.
10. Refit surrounding trim and confirm free gear-lever movement, correct lid operation, secure engagement and absence of rattles.
