The rails are finished in silver/aluminium. The current item photographs show the 575 860 02… engineering-number family. One rail runs along the left outer edge of the roof and the second runs along the right outer edge, above the side doors. The mounting points pass through / attach to the roof structure and are accessed from the underside of the roof when replacement work is required.

This is not an electrical control component. Its job is to provide the vehicle-specific longitudinal mounting structure and attachment interface for compatible transverse load bars. The transverse bars then provide the platform for suitable roof boxes, cycle carriers and other approved transport accessories.

The maximum permitted roof load must always be taken from the vehicle handbook and from the specification of the complete carrier system. Do not assume the physical rail itself determines the permitted load.

14. Reinstall headlining and interior trim, replacing damaged clips where necessary.
15. Carry out a final visual inspection and, where appropriate, a careful water-leak check before fitting a load carrier.
