This listing is for the fixed triangular front quarterlight / quarter window glass assembly on the physical RIGHT side of a first-generation Smart 450 Coupe. On UK right-hand-drive cars this is the driver / offside. On left-hand-drive cars it remains the physical right side and will normally be the passenger side.

The photographed assembly includes the quarter glass, black encapsulated surround/seal area and the long metal window guide/channel. The guide is important because it helps locate and support the front edge of the main drop glass as it travels inside the door.

REFERENCE ONLY - NOT THE DONOR CAR. The two photographs below show the correct first-generation C450 2-door Coupe body shape. The part fits at the front/leading edge of the right-hand door glass aperture, adjacent to the mirror/A-pillar area.

WHAT THIS PART DOES

The quarterlight is a fixed safety-glass panel; it does not raise or lower electrically. Its assembly contributes to the front-door glazing system by closing and sealing the fixed front section of the window aperture. The attached guide/channel helps keep the moving main window aligned as it travels.

A correctly shaped factory-fit component helps preserve glass alignment, sealing, weather protection, door appearance and the intended window-guide geometry.

COMMON FAULT SYMPTOMS

• Cracked, chipped or shattered fixed quarter glass.
• Wind whistle or excessive road noise around the front edge of the door glass.
• Water ingress caused by damaged glass, surround or disturbed sealing surfaces.
• Loose/rattling quarterlight or visible movement in the assembly.
• Main window glass tilting, binding or running poorly if the attached guide/channel is bent or damaged.
• Poor appearance, reduced security or exposed sharp/broken glazing after impact damage.

WHY CHOOSE AN ORIGINAL FACTORY-FIT COMPONENT?

For a body/glazing component, correct curvature, mounting geometry, encapsulation, tint and guide alignment matter. An original factory-fit part was made for the 450 door system, which can reduce the trimming, adjustment and fit uncertainty sometimes encountered with low-cost pattern copies.

Choosing a professionally checked recycled factory-fit part can also make strong financial sense. On some vehicle parts the saving versus a new replacement can reach around 70%, depending on the part, current new retail price and availability. This is a potential saving, not a guaranteed percentage on every item.

Most important: correct fitment beats price alone. Use the compatibility table and compare your old component before installation.

FITTING GUIDE

T25/T30 Torx bits, small ratchet/socket set, screwdriver set, plastic trim tools, pick/hook tool, masking tape, protective gloves, eye protection and glass cleaner. Replacement clips/seals may be required if the originals are damaged during removal.

1. Before dismantling anything, confirm C450 Coupe body, physical RIGHT side, part shape, guide/channel shape and old-part reference.
2. Switch ignition off. Position and secure the main drop glass as required for safe access.
3. Carefully remove the mirror/upper triangular trim and the relevant Smart 450 door trim/panel components. A T25 Torx fixing is used at the upper side-support area on this door system.
4. Remove weatherstrips/seals and clips without stretching or tearing them.
5. Support the moving door glass if the front guide is being released. Remove the quarterlight/guide fasteners and withdraw the assembly without twisting the tempered glass.
6. Transfer serviceable seals/clips only where appropriate. Install the replacement assembly and make sure the guide/channel sits square.
7. Before fully reassembling, test the main window through its full travel and check for binding, tilt or contact.
8. Reassemble the door, then check glass alignment, door closing, water sealing and wind noise.
