EXACT FITMENT GUIDE
The verified catalogue period for this specification is 08/2003 to 03/2009. Registration year alone is not enough: buyers should check chassis and both module numbers.

UK BUYERS:
This generation went on sale new in the UK in January 2004. The August 2003 start date above is the verified vehicle production period, which is why 2003 appears in the title. Always identify the car by NHW20/XW20 chassis and module number rather than relying solely on registration year.
❌ DO NOT ORDER FOR THE FOLLOWING
• Prius XW30 / third-generation cars, including 2009-on XW30 examples
• First-generation Prius XW10 / XW11
• Prius+ / Prius v
• Prius Plug-In models
• Prius c / Aqua
• Other Toyota or Lexus hybrid models unless independently verified
• A left-hand-drive vehicle based only on appearance
• Any Prius carrying a different theft-warning ECU identification number
• Any unit marked 89780-47020 – that is a different transponder-key control component
No additional vehicle model outside Prius NHW20/XW20 has been independently confirmed for this exact 89730-47020 application, so we will not invent cross-fitment simply to increase search traffic.
30-SECOND FITMENT CHECK
1. Your car is Toyota Prius NHW20 / XW20.
2. It has the 1.5 1NZ-FXE hybrid powertrain.
3. It is the correct RHD / European specification.
4. Your existing theft-warning ECU says 89730-47020.
5. Your existing module also says 237000-3090.
6. Housing, connector and mounting arrangement visually match.
7. For a 2009 car, confirm it is still NHW20/XW20 and not XW30.
Unsure? Send us your vehicle details and a clear photograph of the label on your old module through eBay Messages before purchasing.
WHAT DOES THIS ECU CONTROL?

This electronic control unit forms part of the Prius theft-warning / vehicle alarm system. It communicates with other vehicle control units and participates in the arming, disarming and alarm-warning functions.

The vehicle's security system can use the ECU to coordinate warning responses including the theft-warning siren and other security-system outputs when an alarm condition is detected.

Important: this is a theft-warning/alarm ECU. It should not be confused with the separate transponder-key / immobiliser control component, an engine management ECU or the hybrid control ECU.
POSSIBLE SYMPTOMS OF A FAULT
A diagnosed fault in this circuit may be associated with:

• Security alarm failing to arm or disarm correctly
• Theft-warning siren not responding correctly
• Intermittent or missing communication with the theft-warning ECU
• Diagnostic trouble code B1269 on applicable RHD vehicles
• Incorrect alarm-system response after the usual sensors, switches and wiring have been checked
• Alarm-related communication or security-system faults
DIAGNOSE BEFORE REPLACING:
Similar symptoms can also be caused by the vehicle's 12V auxiliary battery, fuses, wiring, connectors, door/hood inputs, alarm sensors, siren or other body-control electronics. Replacing this ECU should follow proper fault diagnosis rather than being used as a guess.
WHERE IS THE PART FITTED?
Toyota repair information places removal of the theft-warning ECU within the lower instrument-panel/dashboard procedure on this generation.
Toyota Prius NHW20R right hand drive dashboard cabin theft warning ECU location reference
Public-domain RHD NHW20R interior reference photograph. The ECU is hidden behind lower dashboard/instrument-panel trim and is therefore not visible in this photograph. This image is supplied to show the correct right-hand-drive cabin layout rather than falsely claiming that the hidden bracket is exposed.
Before dismantling trim, locate your existing ECU and confirm that its label reads 89730-47020 / 237000-3090.
FITTING GUIDE
1. Diagnose the fault first.
Read stored fault codes and confirm the theft-warning ECU/circuit is the likely cause.

2. Make the vehicle safe.
Switch the vehicle fully OFF, keep the key/fob away and follow the correct Prius service precautions before electrical or dashboard work.

3. Disconnect the 12V auxiliary battery negative terminal.
Follow the vehicle repair procedure and observe the required precautions for SRS and electronic systems.

4. Access the lower instrument-panel area.
Remove only the necessary lower dashboard finish trim and under-cover components. Toyota repair information lists the power-steering ECU immediately before removal of the theft-warning ECU in the lower instrument-panel procedure.

5. Verify the old module before unplugging it.
Confirm 89730-47020 and 237000-3090 on the existing ECU.

6. Disconnect and remove the original module.
Release electrical connector locking tabs carefully and remove the module from its mounting. Never pull wiring by the cables themselves.

7. Install the replacement.
Secure the replacement correctly and ensure electrical connectors are fully seated and locked.

8. Reassemble and reconnect the 12V battery.
Refit removed trim/components in the correct order and carry out any initialization required after battery disconnection.

9. Clear and recheck diagnostic codes.
Test alarm arming/disarming and security-system operation before completing the repair.
HYBRID / SRS SAFETY: Do not interfere with orange high-voltage cables or connectors. Dashboard work can also be close to SRS, steering and other safety-related equipment. Professional installation is recommended where the installer is not familiar with Prius electrical systems.
LIKELY TOOLS REQUIRED
🔧 10mm spanner/socket for the 12V battery terminal
🔧 Plastic interior trim-removal tools
🔧 Small metric socket set and ratchet
🔧 Phillips/cross-head screwdriver where required
🔧 Torch or inspection lamp
🔧 Diagnostic scan tool with appropriate Toyota body/security-system capability
🔧 Suitable workshop safety equipment
Tool requirements can vary depending on how much trim must be removed and the vehicle's exact equipment specification.

WHY CHOOSE AN ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER-SUPPLIED RECYCLED PART?

Electronic modules are not a component where visual similarity alone is enough. The safest approach is to replace the failed unit with a component carrying the same factory identification and electrical specification.

✓ Correct number-matched connector and housing configuration
✓ Designed for the relevant vehicle electronics architecture
✓ Known manufacturer identification on the module
✓ Original mounting arrangement when the correct number is matched
✓ Avoids the uncertainty of an unknown-specification low-cost copy
✓ Reuses a serviceable component instead of manufacturing another replacement
POTENTIAL SAVING
On selected recycled components, customers may save up to 70% compared with comparable new replacement pricing. Actual savings depend on the component, current new-part pricing and availability.
25,000+ PARTS IN STOCK
ThePartPilot carries more than 25,000 vehicle parts across our stock range, with components organised and ready for identification, packing and dispatch.

Our goal is for you to order the correct component the first time. Please use the part-number and vehicle compatibility checks above before purchase.

Returns are handled according to the return terms displayed on this eBay listing and applicable eBay rules.

If an item is returned in a materially changed, damaged, altered or otherwise reduced-value condition, any permitted refund deduction is applied only where eBay rules allow it and only to reflect the actual loss in value.

♻️ REUSE A PART • SUPPORT A SMALL BUSINESS

Choosing a serviceable recycled vehicle component keeps a usable part in circulation rather than unnecessarily replacing it with a newly manufactured component. Reuse can reduce waste, make repairs more economical and help extend the working life of existing vehicles.

🛠️ Buying from an independent parts specialist also supports the people involved in identifying, testing, storing, packing and supplying vehicle parts. Every correctly matched order helps us keep useful components available for another repair.

RIGHT PART • FIRST TIME • KEEP GOOD PARTS IN USE
📦 STOCK • PACK • DISPATCH

Components are prepared for dispatch with the aim of protecting connectors, housings and other vulnerable areas during transport.
