⚠️ IMPORTANT — MATCH THE PART BEFORE ORDERING

The safest fitment check is the component in your hand. Before buying, remove or visually inspect your existing coil and compare the part number, connector shape, mounting ear, housing and rubber boot.

Your existing component should show 90919-02257 or a manufacturer-confirmed cross-reference listed below.

If you cannot confirm this, send us an eBay Message before ordering with your registration/VIN, engine details and a clear photograph of the number printed or moulded into your old component.

Do not buy solely because eBay's vehicle selector says it fits. Vehicle registration dates, engine changes and imported variants can overlap. The physical part and manufacturer number are the final checks.

WHERE IS THE PART FITTED?

This is a pencil-style coil-on-plug ignition coil. It installs vertically into a spark-plug well at the top of the cylinder head. The long insulated boot reaches down to the spark plug while the electrical connector and retaining mount remain at the top.

Each coil supplies the high-voltage spark required by its corresponding cylinder. A poor electrical connection, damaged insulation or internally failing coil can interrupt that spark and create a cylinder misfire.

POSSIBLE SYMPTOMS OF A FAILING IGNITION COIL
⚠️ Rough idle or intermittent misfire
One cylinder may not consistently ignite the air/fuel mixture.
⚠️ Hesitation or judder under acceleration
Coil weakness can become more apparent as engine load rises.
⚠️ Loss of power
A misfiring cylinder reduces smooth, consistent engine output.
⚠️ Engine warning light
Misfire-related diagnostic trouble codes may be stored.
⚠️ Difficult starting or stalling
Ignition faults can contribute to poor combustion and unstable running.
⚠️ Fault becomes worse when hot
Some electrical insulation or winding failures become intermittent as temperature changes.
DIAGNOSE BEFORE REPLACING PARTS

Similar symptoms can also be caused by worn spark plugs, damaged wiring/connectors, oil or water in a spark-plug well, injector/fuelling faults, air leaks or mechanical/compression problems.

If diagnosis is uncertain, have the vehicle fault codes and ignition system checked before ordering.

WHY THE EXACT FACTORY PART NUMBER MATTERS

An ignition coil is not selected by appearance alone. Correct connector keying, mounting position, boot length, internal electrical specification and physical dimensions are important.

Matching the same Toyota/DENSO 90919-02257 identification carried by your existing component removes a major fitment variable compared with buying an unspecified low-cost replacement.

Replacement-component quality can vary considerably between brands. A correctly identified recycled component also keeps an existing serviceable automotive part in productive use rather than immediately creating demand for another newly manufactured component.

💷 POTENTIAL SAVING

Depending on the component and current new-part price, buying a quality recycled vehicle part can save as much as 70% compared with buying new. Actual savings vary by component, condition, availability and current market price.
FITTING GUIDE
Safety: Work only on a cool, stationary vehicle. This is a general fitting overview, not a replacement for the current Toyota workshop procedure for your exact vehicle. If you are unsure, use a qualified technician.
Suggested Tools
🔧 Small socket and ratchet for the retaining fastener
↔️ Short extension where access requires it
🔦 Inspection light / torch
🧤 Suitable workshop gloves
📏 Low-range torque wrench for correct refitting
🖥️ OBD diagnostic scanner — useful where a misfire code is stored
General Installation Sequence
  1. Park safely, switch the ignition completely off, remove the key from the vehicle and allow the engine to cool.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal where required by the applicable workshop procedure. DENSO service guidance advises allowing at least 90 seconds before proceeding after battery disconnection.
  3. Remove the decorative engine cover, intake duct or other non-structural access components only where necessary.
  4. Identify the correct cylinder and ignition coil.
  5. Release the electrical connector using its locking tab. Do not pull on the wiring itself.
  6. Remove the coil retaining fastener where fitted.
  7. Lift the existing coil vertically from the spark-plug well. Gentle controlled twisting may help release the rubber boot.
  8. Inspect the plug well for oil, coolant/water, contamination or damaged wiring. Correct the root cause before fitting another coil.
  9. BEFORE INSTALLATION, compare the removed component against this listing: 90919-02257, connector, mounting ear, overall body profile and spark-plug boot.
  10. Seat the replacement coil squarely over the spark plug in the same orientation. Do not force the connector or mounting point.
  11. Refit the retaining fastener to the current Toyota workshop torque specification for your exact vehicle. No torque figure is guessed in this listing.
  12. Reconnect the electrical connector and any covers/components removed for access.
  13. Reconnect the battery where applicable, start the engine and verify smooth operation. Read diagnostic codes again if required. Clear a fault code only after its underlying cause has been repaired.
ESTIMATED REPAIR TIME & LABOUR CALCULATOR

For an accessible coil-on-plug installation, a practical workshop allowance is approximately:

ONE COIL
Approx. 15–30 minutes
0.25–0.50 labour hour
MULTIPLE COILS / EXTRA DIAGNOSIS
Approx. 30–60+ minutes
0.50–1.00+ labour hour

These are planning estimates rather than manufacturer flat-rate times. Access, seized hardware, diagnosis and other faults can increase workshop time.

Garage Rate 15 min / 0.25 hr 30 min / 0.50 hr 60 min / 1.00 hr
£50/hour £12.50 £25.00 £50.00
£60/hour £15.00 £30.00 £60.00
£75/hour £18.75 £37.50 £75.00
£90/hour £22.50 £45.00 £90.00
£120/hour £30.00 £60.00 £120.00

Calculation: hourly labour rate × booked labour time. Labour examples exclude parts, diagnosis, fluids, consumables, VAT treatment at the repairer and additional remedial work.

FITMENT, RETURNS & ORDER ACCURACY

We provide detailed fitment information to reduce incorrect orders, but it remains important to check your component before purchase.

1. MATCH THE NUMBER
Look for 90919-02257 on your removed coil.
2. MATCH ENGINE & CHASSIS
Do not rely only on engine capacity or registration year.
3. MATCH THE PHOTOGRAPHS
Compare connector, mounting ear, body profile and boot.
4. ASK BEFORE ORDERING
If unsure, contact us through eBay Messages so we can help verify fitment.

Returns must follow the return options and terms displayed by eBay for this transaction. Detailed fitment guidance does not remove statutory rights or applicable eBay buyer protections.

Where eBay rules permit a seller deduction because an item has been returned in a materially reduced condition, any deduction is based on the actual loss in value and the circumstances of the return — it is not an automatic wrong-fit restocking charge.
