Where It Fits in the Vehicle

Audi A1 8X dashboard reference showing centre switch panel location
Reference dashboard: the assembly sits centrally between the two round air vents. The supplied part is the small vertical panel in this centre area. Reference photo: Nozilla / Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA.

What the assembly controls or displays

  • Hazard warning lights: commands all direction indicators to flash together for emergency or obstruction warning.
  • Automatic start-stop OFF: sends the driver’s request to disable the start-stop function for the current drive cycle, where the vehicle is equipped and configured for it.
  • Passenger-airbag OFF indication: displays the passenger-airbag deactivation status. It is an indicator function and is not a substitute for correct airbag-system diagnosis.
A warning lamp or failed function can also be caused by wiring, a fuse, connector damage, coding or another control unit. Diagnose the vehicle before ordering whenever possible.

This listing is not confirmed for:

Vehicle / variation Reason
Audi A1 8X pre-facelift, normally 2010–2014 DO NOT ASSUME FITMENT. Earlier switch variants and equipment combinations can look similar. A 2015 registration can also require extra checking.
Audi A1 GB second generation, late 2018 onward WILL NOT FIT. Different vehicle generation, dashboard architecture and electronics.
Any 8X0 959 672 unit with a different final letter NOT AN AUTOMATIC INTERCHANGE. The suffix identifies the exact switch configuration or revision.
Cars with a different button face, blanking arrangement, connector or clip layout WILL NOT FIT CORRECTLY. Match the removed unit visually.
Audi A3, A4, A5, Q-series or unrelated Volkswagen Group models NOT CONFIRMED. Similar icons do not make the assembly interchangeable.
Best fitment check: send an eBay Message before purchase with a clear photograph of the front and rear of your existing switch, the full number printed on it and your VIN. A registration alone is not sufficient for a guaranteed match.

Common Fault Symptoms

  • Hazard lights do not activate, activate intermittently or require excessive pressure on the button.
  • Hazard button is sticking, cracked, loose, missing or physically damaged.
  • Automatic start-stop OFF button does not register a press, despite the rest of the system being operational.
  • Passenger-airbag OFF status lamp is dim, intermittent or not illuminating when the system commands it.
  • Button symbols or backlighting are not working while surrounding illumination operates normally.
  • Connector socket, housing tabs or dashboard retaining clips are damaged.
Safety note: an airbag warning must be diagnosed with suitable equipment. Replacing this display panel will not repair an unrelated airbag, seat-occupancy, wiring or control-module fault.

Why Choose a Used Factory Part?

Designed for the vehicle

  • Correct factory-style connector geometry and locking features when the reference matches.
  • Correct icon layout, illumination appearance and dashboard clip positions.
  • A used factory component can avoid the poor fit, inconsistent lighting or fragile plastics sometimes found in low-cost copies.
  • Reusing a serviceable original-manufacturer component can cost substantially less than buying a new replacement.

Potential value

Used vehicle parts can offer savings of up to 70% against some new replacement prices, depending on the component, supplier and current market price. This is a comparison guide rather than a guaranteed saving.

Always compare the total condition, warranty, fitment certainty and exact part reference — not price alone.

Fitting Guide, Tools & Estimated Time

Work only if competent. Protect dashboard trim and follow the vehicle manufacturer’s battery and SRS precautions. The guide is general because trim access can vary with equipment and production date.

Recommended tools

  • Plastic trim-removal lever or non-marking panel tool
  • Small pick or fine flat trim tool for the connector latch
  • Torx T20/T25 driver if surrounding trim removal is required
  • 10 mm socket or spanner if disconnecting the battery
  • Protective cloth or low-tack tape for surrounding trim
  • Suitable diagnostic scan tool for fault checking where required

General replacement procedure

  1. Park safely, switch the ignition off, remove the key and allow vehicle systems to shut down.
  2. Where the manufacturer procedure requires it, disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait the specified time before working near an SRS-status indicator. Be aware that stored settings or fault codes may be affected.
  3. Protect the surrounding dashboard and use a plastic lever to release the switch module or the relevant centre trim evenly. Do not twist the fascia or force one corner.
  4. Support the module, release the electrical connector locking tab and unplug it without pulling on the wiring.
  5. Compare the old and replacement units side by side: full number, final G suffix, face layout, connector keying, pin arrangement and mounting clips.
  6. Reconnect the plug until it locks, align the clips and press the module evenly into its original position.
  7. Restore the battery connection where applicable, switch on the ignition and test hazard operation, start-stop OFF request and passenger-airbag status illumination.
  8. Scan for stored faults and investigate any continuing warning rather than assuming the replacement panel is responsible.
Experienced technician Approximately 0.25–0.50 labour hours
Typical DIY allowance Approximately 20–45 minutes, depending on access and experience
Difficulty Moderate trim/electrical task; professional diagnosis is advised for any SRS warning

Returns & Fitment Responsibility

We provide detailed photographs, the full reference and a compatibility chart to help customers buy correctly the first time. Before ordering, the buyer must compare:

  • Full part number, including the final letter G
  • Front button and indicator layout
  • Rear connector shape, locking tab and pin arrangement
  • Retaining clips and physical dimensions
  • Vehicle generation, body style, build period and installed equipment

Returns are handled through eBay under the return policy shown on the listing. Where eBay permits, a deduction may be applied only for actual loss of value when an item is returned used, damaged, altered, incomplete or inadequately packaged. No automatic percentage deduction is claimed merely because a buyer selected a particular return reason.

Contact us through eBay Messages before purchase if uncertain. A clear photograph of the existing part is normally more useful than item-specific data alone.

VAT Information

This second-hand item is sold under the VAT margin scheme / global accounting method where applicable. VAT is not shown separately and is not reclaimable by the buyer. The total listing price is the price payable, excluding any delivery or import charges displayed separately by eBay.

Support a Small Business & Reuse Good Parts

🚗 🔧 📦 By buying a serviceable used vehicle component, you support an independent local business and help extend the useful life of an existing part. Reuse can reduce demand for new raw materials, manufacturing and premature disposal while keeping repairable vehicles on the road.

Thank you for checking the fitment information carefully — correct identification saves time, avoids unnecessary transport and reduces returns.
