Part Overview & Fitment Information

Where is it fitted? This reservoir mounts directly onto the top of the brake master cylinder. It is located inside the engine bay on the driver's side bulkhead/firewall, typically hidden beneath the plastic scuttle panel cover near the windshield wipers.

What does it control? It is a critical safety component that stores hydraulic DOT 4 brake fluid, feeding both the vehicle's braking system and the hydraulic clutch system (on manual models) to ensure no air enters the lines.

Fitment Verification Table

Use the chart below to ensure you purchase the correct part the first time. We highly recommend verifying your existing part against our images rather than relying solely on eBay item specifics.

Why Replace Your Reservoir?

Symptoms of a Faulty Part

  • Visible brake fluid weeping or leaking around the master cylinder base grommets.
  • Dashboard warning light indicating low brake fluid.
  • A spongy, soft brake pedal caused by air being sucked into the hydraulic lines.
  • Cracked or heavily discoloured plastic from years of engine heat cycles.

The Factory Original Advantage

  • Superior Materials: Factory-original plastics withstand extreme engine bay heat without degrading or cracking prematurely.
  • Exact Fit: Cheap aftermarket copies often leak at the mounting grommets within months. Original parts guarantee a perfect seal.
  • Massive Savings: Save up to 70% by purchasing a quality, tested recycled part instead of paying inflated main dealer prices for a new unit.

Fitting Instructions & Required Tools

We always recommend professional installation, but for experienced home mechanics, the general procedure is as follows:

  • Step 1: Use a fluid syringe to safely extract old brake fluid from the existing reservoir to prevent spillage.
  • Step 2: Disconnect the electrical connector for the fluid level sensor.
  • Step 3: Remove the retaining screw/pin holding the reservoir to the master cylinder housing.
  • Step 4: Firmly rock and pull the reservoir upwards to release it from the rubber seating grommets.
  • Step 5: Lubricate the new reservoir fittings with fresh DOT 4 fluid and press firmly into the master cylinder until seated flush.
  • Step 6: Refill to the MAX line and perform a full brake bleed to remove any air from the system.

Required Tools: Fluid extraction syringe, T20 Torx / Flathead screwdriver, clean rags, DOT 4 brake fluid, and a brake bleeding kit.
