Fitting guide
- Prepare the vehicle. Park securely, switch off the ignition, remove the key and protect the painted door edge and sill. Support the door so it cannot swing unexpectedly.
- Remove the interior door trim. Carefully release the decorative trim, remove the correct Torx fasteners and unclip the door card using non-marking tools.
- Disconnect only what is necessary. Release electrical connectors and the interior-handle cable carefully. Follow manufacturer precautions if any airbag-related connection is disturbed.
- Access the check strap. Carefully open the moisture barrier or access panel without tearing it. Preserve the seal so water cannot enter the cabin after refitting.
- Remove the old unit. Photograph its OSR orientation, then remove the B-pillar/body-side fastener and the rear-door-side fasteners. Withdraw the strap through the access opening.
- Compare before installation. Confirm the part number, bracket position, housing shape, overall length and fixing pattern match the removed component.
- Install and tighten correctly. Fit in the same orientation and tighten using the Audi specification for the exact vehicle. Do not guess torque values.
- Reassemble and test. Reseal the moisture barrier, reconnect wiring and refit the door card. Open and close the door slowly, checking detents, clearances, noise and full travel.
