Audi A4 / S4 Cabriolet 8H Petrol Fuel Filler Flap, Cap and Hinge Assembly

Used black rear-right fuel flap assembly for selected Audi A4 and S4 Cabriolet models. Catalogue reference 8H0809905.
✓ Used Factory Part ✓ Petrol Assembly ✓ Cabriolet Body Only ✓ More Than 25,000 Parts Held
CRITICAL FITMENT NOTICE: This is for the Audi 8H Cabriolet body. It is not the similarly named fuel flap used on an A4 saloon or Avant. Compare the photographs, body shape, current part number and hinge arrangement before ordering.
PAINT COLOUR NOTICE: The part has a used black painted finish, but the exact Audi paint code has not been verified from the photographs. Black shades can differ by paint code, age, fading and previous refinishing. Please expect normal used marks and allow for professional repainting if an exact colour match is required.

Actual Item Photographs

These photographs show the actual used assembly being offered. Please inspect the condition, marks, cap, tether, hinge and shape carefully before purchasing.

Confirmed Compatibility Chart

Compatibility below applies to a petrol 8H Cabriolet when the existing component matches the photographs and part reference. Market equipment can vary, so final confirmation should always use the vehicle VIN and original component.

Vehicle Generation / Body Model Years Petrol Engines Fitment
Audi A4 Cabriolet 8H / B6 Cabriolet 2003–2006 1.8 Turbo, 2.4 and 3.0 petrol applications; drivetrain may vary by market Confirmed part family
Audi S4 Cabriolet 8H / B6 Cabriolet 2004–2006 4.2 V8 petrol Confirmed part family
Audi A4 Cabriolet 8H / B7 Cabriolet 2007–2009 1.8 Turbo, 2.0 Turbo/FSI and 3.2 FSI petrol applications; market specification may vary Confirmed part family
Audi S4 Cabriolet 8H / B7 Cabriolet 2007–2009 4.2 V8 petrol Confirmed part family
Registration-year explanation: European production of the 8H Cabriolet began during 2002 and continued into 2008, while catalogue model-year coverage is commonly shown as 2003–2009. A registration year alone is therefore not sufficient: confirm the 8H Cabriolet body and existing part.

How to Confirm Fitment Before Ordering

1. Confirm the body

Your vehicle must be an Audi A4 or S4 two-door Cabriolet with 8H body/chassis identification. It must not be a saloon or Avant.

2. Confirm petrol specification

The photographed cap and label are for an unleaded-petrol vehicle. Diesel buyers should not order the complete assembly without verification.

3. Compare the photographs

Compare the painted flap outline, hinge position, rear moulding, cap, tether and mounting points against your existing part.

4. Check the old part

Look for 8H0809905, 8H0 809 905 or a superseding reference. Do not rely only on an automatically generated eBay compatibility result.

5. Send details through eBay

When uncertain, contact us through eBay Messages with the registration, VIN, engine size and a clear photograph of the current component before purchasing.

6. Confirm colour separately

Black is a broad colour description, not a verified paint code. Compare your paint code or plan to repaint the flap.

What the Fuel Flap Assembly Does

The assembly closes the opening in the rear quarter panel, protects the filler neck from dirt and weather, provides a finished exterior surface, and retains the fuel cap and tether shown in the photographs.

The painted flap itself does not regulate fuel delivery or control the engine. A separate central-locking actuator may secure the flap on equipped vehicles. That actuator is not assumed to be included unless it is clearly visible in the actual item photographs.

Common reasons for replacement

  • Broken, bent or seized hinge.
  • Flap missing following impact or previous repair.
  • Flap will not remain closed or sits out of alignment.
  • Cracked or detached petrol-cap tether.
  • Damaged cap or deteriorated sealing surface.
  • Heavy scratches, dents, corrosion or peeling paint.
  • Poor panel gap after accidental damage.
  • Fuel-cap warning or emissions warning where the cap seal is damaged; diagnosis is recommended because the outer flap alone will not normally trigger an engine fault.

Why Choose a Used Factory Part?

Correct factory shape

A manufacturer-produced component is designed around the vehicle’s original body aperture, hinge location, panel contour and cap arrangement.

Better matching potential

The correct original component generally provides a more dependable starting point for panel alignment than an inexpensive universal or poorly reproduced copy.

Lower replacement cost

Used components can cost substantially less than a comparable new replacement. Depending on the component and current new price, savings may sometimes approach 70%; savings are not guaranteed for every item.

Environmental benefit

Reusing an existing component extends its service life and reduces demand for new manufacturing, packaging and raw materials.

Fitting Guide

This is a general guide rather than a vehicle workshop manual. Fasteners and actuator arrangements can vary. Stop if the vehicle differs from the photographed assembly or if specialist access is required.

Recommended tools

  • Plastic trim-removal tool.
  • Suitable Torx-driver set.
  • Small ratchet and sockets where required.
  • Protective cloth and low-tack masking tape.
  • Work light.
  • Protective gloves.

General fitting procedure

1 Park safely, switch off the ignition and open the existing fuel flap.

2 Clean the surrounding quarter panel and protect the painted edge with a cloth or low-tack tape.

3 Photograph the original hinge, tether, fasteners and actuator arrangement before dismantling.

4 Release the cap tether and any trim or retaining components that obstruct access. Do not pull wiring or the locking actuator.

5 Support the flap while carefully removing its retaining screws or hinge fasteners using the correct driver.

6 Compare both assemblies side by side. Confirm the hinge, mountings, cap, tether and flap outline are identical before continuing.

7 Transfer only the required serviceable components, fit the replacement and initially leave the fasteners slightly loose.

8 Align the flap with the surrounding quarter-panel contour and tighten the fasteners carefully. Do not overtighten plastic or painted components.

9 Check that the flap opens, closes and locks correctly without rubbing. Confirm the petrol cap seals and the tether is secure.

10 Remove protective tape, clean the area and recheck the panel gap after operation.

Estimated fitting time: approximately 20–40 minutes for a straightforward replacement. Extra time may be required for seized fixings, damaged bodywork, actuator faults, paint preparation or panel alignment.

Garage Labour Cost Guide

  • This fitment chart does not remove a buyer’s statutory rights where an item is materially different from its description.
