⬅ REAR LEFT DOOR The regulator sits inside the rear-left door shell, behind the interior door card and moisture barrier. The manual winding handle rotates the regulator spindle, which moves the cable and guide mechanism to raise or lower the rear-left door glass. UK terminology: Nearside Rear / NSR / Passenger-Side Rear. International terminology: Left Rear / LH Rear.

WHAT DOES THE WINDOW REGULATOR DO?

The window regulator supports and controls the vertical movement of the rear-left door glass. Turning the interior winding handle rotates the regulator drive spindle. The cable and guide assembly then transfers that movement to the glass carrier, allowing the window to rise or lower smoothly inside the door channels.

A damaged regulator can leave the window insecure, partially open, difficult to operate or unable to remain at the required height. Replacing a worn mechanism restores proper mechanical control of the glass.

COMMON FAULT SYMPTOMS

• Window handle turns but the glass does not move correctly.
• Glass drops down inside the door.
• Window travels at an angle or becomes crooked in the channel.
• Grinding, clicking, scraping or cable noises when winding.
• Window becomes unusually stiff or difficult to raise.
• Window will not remain fully closed.
• Frayed or snapped regulator cable.
• Broken glass carrier or guide clip.
• Winder spindle moves but no longer drives the lifting mechanism correctly.

FITTING GUIDE

1. Open the rear-left door and protect the paint, trim and glass.
2. Remove the manual window-winder handle and its retaining arrangement carefully.
3. Remove the relevant handle/trim covers and door-card retaining screws.
4. Use a plastic trim tool to release the door-card clips without unnecessarily damaging them.
5. Lift the door card away and disconnect any speaker wiring or door-handle linkage where necessary.
6. Carefully peel the moisture barrier back sufficiently to access the regulator.
7. Secure the window glass so it cannot unexpectedly fall into the door.
8. Position the old regulator so the glass retaining point can be accessed.
9. Release the glass from the regulator guide/carrier and support the glass securely.
10. Remove the regulator mounting fasteners.
11. Withdraw the original mechanism through the door access opening.
12. Place the original and replacement mechanisms side-by-side and compare every fixing point and guide.
13. Install the replacement regulator into the door and secure the mounting points correctly.
14. Reconnect the glass to the regulator carrier.
15. Operate the manual winder through its full travel before replacing the trim.
16. Check that the glass rises evenly, closes correctly and does not bind in either channel.
17. Restore the moisture barrier to help prevent water entering the passenger compartment.
18. Refit the door card, clips, trim pieces and winding handle.
19. Perform a final full-open/full-close test.
