How To Confirm Fitment First Time

1. Confirm the car is an Accord MK7 / VII Tourer or Estate with five doors.
2. Confirm the engine is the 2.0 i-VTEC petrol, not the 2.4 petrol or 2.2 diesel.
3. Count the forward gears. The knob must show five forward gears plus reverse.
4. Compare the moulded cream housing, four main mounting bushes, metal inserts, lever pivot and cable attachment points with your old unit.
5. Look for 54100-SDA-003 or a superseding reference in your vehicle-specific catalogue, but do not rely on a partial number alone.
6. Send the VIN or registration and clear photographs of the old selector through eBay messages before purchase when any detail differs.

Plastic trim-removal tools, Phillips and flat screwdrivers, metric socket set, ratchet and extensions, small pliers, pick tool, torque wrench, torch, protective gloves and suitable clip-removal tools.

General Replacement Steps

1. Record radio settings where needed, switch the ignition off and isolate the battery if electrical console connectors will be disturbed.
2. Remove the gear knob using the correct method for the fitted knob and carefully release the gaiter and centre-console trim.
3. Disconnect console switches or sockets without pulling on their wiring.
4. Photograph the original selector and cable routing. Mark both selector cables so they return to the correct positions.
5. Release the cable-end retainers and cable brackets without damaging reusable clips.
6. Remove the selector-base fasteners and lift out the old assembly.
7. Place old and replacement units side by side. Confirm the frame shape, mount spacing, lever angle, cable connections and reverse-gate arrangement are identical.
8. Fit the replacement, reconnect the cables and secure all retainers. Tighten fasteners to the vehicle-specific workshop specification.
9. Before refitting trim, select every gear with the engine off and confirm smooth engagement and full cable travel.
10. Reassemble the console, reconnect the battery where applicable, then carry out a cautious stationary test followed by a road test.
