WHAT THIS MODULE CONTROLS
This Sorento uses hydraulic power assistance with an electronically controlled solenoid valve. The steering control unit receives a vehicle-speed signal and varies current to the steering-gear solenoid so steering assistance changes with road speed. It is therefore a steering-system control unit, not an engine-management computer and not simply a steering-angle sensor.
The label itself shows steering-related electrical designations including speed input, diagnostic K-line, solenoid positive and negative, ignition and ground. This is another reason the photographed label should take priority over generic auto-filled item specifics.
