Used Land Rover Discovery 3 L319 rear LH side-impact airbag crash sensor for the 2005-2009 five-door Discovery 3/LR3 generation. The item photographs clearly show 5H2Z-14B345-BA and YDB000141. The YDB000141 part family is cross-referenced to the later Land Rover service number YWJ500380.
This sensor is part of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). It detects side-impact acceleration/collision forces and sends information to the restraint control system. The restraint control module uses sensor inputs and other system data when determining whether restraint devices should be activated. The sensor does not work as an isolated system and a warning light does not automatically prove that this sensor is the cause of the fault.
Common reasons for looking at this part include an illuminated airbag/SRS warning lamp, a stored side-impact/crash-sensor fault code, a damaged sensor/connector after repair work, corrosion or physical damage, or an SRS system that reports a sensor communication/availability fault. Always read the diagnostic trouble code and inspect the wiring and connector before replacing parts.
For the Discovery 3 rear side-impact location, the workshop procedure accesses the sensor by removing the C-pillar lower trim panel. The sensor is then retained by two Torx bolts and an electrical connector.
Important position note: the later YWJ500380 service part family is catalogued for left/right side-sensor use and the same sensor family can appear in more than one side-impact position on some applications. This listing is sold as Rear LH, but do not use the words “rear left” alone as your fitment proof — use VIN plus the old sensor label.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PRIMARY | Land Rover Discovery 3 / LR3 | L319 | 2005-2009 | 5-door SUV | Match 5H2Z-14B345-BA / YDB000141, or VIN check to YWJ500380. |
| CROSS-FIT | Land Rover Discovery 4 / LR4 | L319 | 2010-2014 | 5-door SUV | VIN/old-label confirmation required. Do not assume all later Discovery 4 vehicles use this sensor. |
| CROSS-FIT | Land Rover Range Rover Sport | L320 | 2006-2013 | 5-door SUV | VIN/old-label confirmation required. Position and market specification can vary. |
- Read the relevant SRS safety information before starting.
- Switch the vehicle off and follow the workshop procedure to make the SRS system safe. The Discovery 3 procedure states that both battery cables must be disconnected, with the ground cable disconnected first.
- Remove the C-pillar lower trim panel to gain access to the rear side-impact sensor.
- Remove the two Torx retaining bolts.
- Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the sensor.
- Compare the replacement label, connector and fixing pattern with the original before installation.
- Fit the replacement sensor and tighten the two retaining bolts to 8 Nm (6 lb-ft).
- Reconnect the electrical connector and refit the C-pillar lower trim.
- If replacing the SRS component, record the unit barcode as required by the workshop procedure.
- Recommission the SRS system using the correct workshop/diagnostic procedure, read/clear relevant fault codes where appropriate, and confirm the SRS warning-lamp self-check is correct before returning the vehicle to service.
| Tools | Trim-removal tools, suitable battery-terminal tools, correct Torx bit for the retaining bolts, torque wrench capable of accurately setting 8 Nm, and an SRS-capable diagnostic scan tool. The retrieved fitting procedure does not state the Torx bit size, so it is intentionally not guessed here. |
| Planning time | Approx. 0.5-1.0 hour for an experienced technician for access/replacement/reassembly, excluding additional diagnosis. This is a planning estimate based on the published removal steps, not a quoted Land Rover book time. |
| Extra time may be needed for | Diagnostic fault tracing, seized/damaged trim fixings, wiring repairs, water/corrosion issues, battery support, SRS fault-code diagnosis or other restraint-system faults. |
