The exterior door handle carrier is the structural mounting mechanism positioned inside the door directly behind the exterior pull handle. Its purpose is to keep the handle assembly correctly aligned and support the mechanical movement used when the outside handle is pulled.
The carrier works together with the exterior handle, spring arrangement and door-latch linkage. When the handle is pulled, movement is transferred through the mechanism towards the latch so the door can release.
Correct geometry is important. If the carrier becomes cracked, distorted, excessively worn or loses correct spring tension, the exterior handle may no longer transfer enough movement to the latch.
