The vent forms the final outlet of the passenger-side dashboard ventilation duct. Air delivered by the vehicle's heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system passes through this assembly before entering the cabin.

The adjustable louvres allow the passenger to change the direction of airflow, while the lower control allows airflow through the outlet to be adjusted.

The vent itself does not create heat or cold and does not control the blower motor. Its purpose is to direct, distribute and locally regulate cabin airflow.
