PREMIUM USED FACTORY-ORIGINAL VEHICLE PARTS • FITMENT-FIRST LISTINGS
⚠️ PLEASE CHECK FITMENT BEFORE ORDERING
This actual photographed part is marked FABIA 2012 NSF. It is being sold as a FRONT LEFT door check strap. For UK right-hand-drive vehicles, NSF means near-side front / passenger-side front.
International buyers: always order by the physical position FRONT LEFT, not simply by the words “passenger side”. On a left-hand-drive vehicle, the front-left door will normally be the driver's door.
If there is any doubt, send us your VIN and/or the number from your original part through eBay Messages BEFORE ordering.

❌ DO NOT ASSUME IT FITS
  • Rear doors – this listing is for a front-door check strap.
  • Fabia Mk1 / 6Y simply because it says “Fabia”.
  • Fabia Mk3 / 6V or later generations simply because the vehicle is newer.
  • Any vehicle where the original component has different mounting points, arm length, housing shape or part number.
  • Any vehicle based solely on registration year without VIN or physical-number confirmation when there is uncertainty.
🚪 WHERE THIS PART IS FITTED
The door check strap is mounted within the front door structure, with the check arm operating between the door and the front door aperture / A-pillar area. It works alongside the hinges but performs a different job.
VEHICLE BODY / A-PILLAR   ⇄   CHECK STRAP   ⇄   FRONT LEFT DOOR 🚪
Its purpose is to limit door opening travel and create the familiar holding positions or “detents” as the door opens. A correctly operating check strap helps the door remain at selected opening positions instead of swinging freely.
🔧 COMMON SYMPTOMS OF A WORN OR DAMAGED CHECK STRAP
  • Clicking, cracking, clunking or popping as the front door opens or closes.
  • The door no longer remains securely in its normal opening positions.
  • Jerky, unusually stiff or notchy door movement.
  • Excessive movement or play in the check mechanism.
  • The door swings too freely, particularly on slopes or in windy conditions.
  • Visible bending, wear, damage or looseness around the check arm or mounting points.
Replacing a failed check strap can help prevent uncontrolled door movement that may place additional strain on the door, hinges, wiring loom, seals or adjacent bodywork. Diagnose the fault properly before replacing parts because similar noises can also come from hinges, fasteners, trims or door hardware.
⭐ WHY CHOOSE A FACTORY-ORIGINAL USED PART?
Correct Geometry
When the correct part number is matched, factory-developed mounting geometry, arm travel and detent characteristics are designed around the original vehicle platform.
Known Vehicle Application
A used original component can provide a closer like-for-like replacement than buying an unknown alternative purely because it appears similar in a photograph.
Value & Reuse
Used original parts can provide substantial savings compared with dealer-new pricing while keeping a serviceable vehicle component in productive use.
Aftermarket quality varies between manufacturers. Our recommendation is always to compare part number, mounting design and condition rather than assuming that every non-factory replacement is either identical or inferior.
🛠️ GENERAL FITTING GUIDE
Important: these are general fitting steps rather than VIN-specific workshop instructions. Fastener type, trim removal procedure and tightening torque can vary by vehicle. Use the correct workshop information for your VIN and do not guess torque specifications.
  1. Park the vehicle safely on level ground, switch the ignition off and raise the window.
  2. Protect painted edges and secure the front door so wind cannot move it unexpectedly.
  3. Locate the check strap between the front-left door and the body / A-pillar area.
  4. Remove the interior door trim or access components only where required to reach the check-strap mounting points.
  5. Release the body-side check-strap attachment and then the door-side mounting fasteners.
  6. Withdraw the old check-strap mechanism through the appropriate access opening.
  7. Place the removed component beside this replacement and compare housing, arm length, mounting points and identifying numbers.
  8. Install the replacement in the same orientation as the removed component.
  9. Tighten all fasteners to the correct VIN/model-specific workshop-manual specification.
  10. Refit all removed trim and access components.
  11. Slowly test the door through its complete normal movement and each holding position.
  12. Confirm there is no abnormal noise, binding, contact with wiring, seal interference or uncontrolled movement.
🧰 TYPICAL TOOLS REQUIRED
  • Plastic interior trim removal tools.
  • Suitable Torx / socket set for the fasteners fitted to your particular vehicle.
  • Ratchet, extensions and suitable screwdriver equipment.
  • Torque wrench for final tightening to the correct workshop specification.
  • Inspection light / torch.
  • Masking tape or suitable paint-edge protection.
  • Safe door support or wedge where required.
⏱️ ESTIMATED REPAIR TIME & GARAGE LABOUR GUIDE
Planning estimate: approximately 0.5–1.0 labour hour. This is not a manufacturer flat-rate time and can increase if trim access is more involved, previous repairs are present, or fasteners are seized/damaged.

Garage Rate Approx. 0.5 Hour Approx. 1.0 Hour

♻️ SUPPORTING REUSE & A LOCAL SMALL BUSINESS
Thank you for choosing THEPARTPILOT. Buying a serviceable used vehicle component keeps an existing part in productive use rather than automatically replacing it with a newly manufactured item. Reuse can help reduce unnecessary waste while giving customers access to hard-to-find factory-original components.
Every order also supports an independent UK vehicle-parts business, our stock operation and the people involved in identifying, storing, preparing and dispatching parts. 🌍💚📦
