Where It Fits and What It Does
The steering wheel is secured to the splined end of the steering column inside the cabin. Driver input through the wheel is transferred through the column to the steering system, allowing the direction of the vehicle to be controlled.
The central frame also provides the mounting position for the correct horn and airbag module. This particular version does not have integrated control buttons. The horn, airbag, electrical connectors and clock spring are separate components and must be checked independently.
Verified Compatibility Chart
| Make and model | Generation / code | Years | Body | Verified engine coverage | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Toyota Aygo | Aygo I / AB10 / _B1_ | 2005–2014 | 3-door and 5-door hatchback | 1.0 VVT-i, 998cc, 1KR-FE petrol | Number and mounting layout must match |
| Citroen C1 | C1 I / PM / PN | 2005–2014 | 3-door and 5-door hatchback | 1.0, 998cc, 1KR petrol | Number and mounting layout must match |
| Peugeot 107 | 107 first generation | 2005–2014 | 3-door and 5-door hatchback | 1.0, 998cc, 1KR petrol | Number and mounting layout must match |
| 1.4 diesel variants | Selected first-generation versions | Within 2005–2014 range | 3-door or 5-door | Not guaranteed by engine or year alone | Buy only after exact number and photograph confirmation |
The steering wheel itself is not door-count-specific. Both three-door and five-door applications are listed because the same part-number and mounting design can be used across those body versions.
This Part Will Not Fit
| Toyota Aygo II / AB40 | Revised second-generation model introduced during 2014 |
| Citroen C1 II | Revised second-generation model introduced during 2014 |
| Peugeot 108 | Different later model and steering-wheel design |
| Multifunction wheels | Not for wheels requiring factory audio, telephone or cruise buttons |
| Different centre design | Not for a different spoke shape, spline, airbag aperture or mounting arrangement |
| Different part number | Do not assume compatibility without confirmed interchange information |
How to Confirm Fitment Before Ordering
- Remove or inspect the existing wheel and locate its casting or reference number.
- Confirm that the number is GS120-01840 or the same number written as GS12001840.
- Compare the three-spoke shape, centre aperture, spline opening, metal frame and airbag mounting points.
- Confirm that the vehicle does not require integrated steering-wheel buttons.
- Check that the vehicle is the first-generation Aygo, C1 or 107, especially when registered in 2014.
- When uncertain, send the registration, VIN and a clear photograph of the original wheel through eBay Messages before purchase.
Correct Vehicle and Fitting-Location References
These licensed photographs identify the relevant first-generation vehicle family and the location of the steering wheel. They are reference photographs only; the vehicles and complete dashboard assemblies are not supplied.
Signs the Existing Steering Wheel May Need Replacement
| ⚠️ | Cracked, split, sticky, excessively worn or uncomfortable rim surface |
| ⚠️ | Damaged centre frame, airbag mounting points or horn-pad retaining areas |
| ⚠️ | Visible accident, impact, heat or chemical damage |
| ⚠️ | Damaged or worn steering-column spline in the wheel hub |
| ⚠️ | Unwanted movement or noise confirmed as coming from the wheel frame rather than the column |
Benefits of a Correct Factory-Supplied Used Part
| Correct used component | Cheap pattern replacement risk |
|---|---|
| Original vehicle-design spline dimensions and mounting geometry | Possible variation in spline, centre position or mounting points |
| Designed around the correct airbag and horn-pad arrangement | May require modification or incompatible centre components |
| Established material feel, shape and driver position | Unknown material quality, finish or long-term durability |
| Substantially lower cost may be possible compared with a new dealer-supplied part | Low initial price can be lost through poor fit or repeat labour |
Exact savings vary according to dealer pricing, availability and condition. Buying the correct number first time is normally more valuable than choosing a visually similar wheel that later proves incompatible.
Fitting Information
Required tools
- 10mm spanner or socket for the negative battery terminal
- T30 Torx bit for the captive rear airbag fasteners
- 19mm deep socket, ratchet and suitable extension
- Calibrated torque wrench
- Small trim pick or insulated connector tool
- Paint marker or tape for spline alignment
- Steering-wheel puller if the wheel is tight on the spline
- Safety glasses and suitable gloves
Estimated repair time
Time depends on corrosion, previous repairs, diagnostic work and whether the wheel releases normally from the steering-column spline.
General fitting sequence
- Park safely with the front road wheels and steering wheel pointing straight ahead.
- Switch off the ignition, remove the key and disconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Wait at least 10 minutes for residual SRS energy to discharge.
- Loosen the captive T30 Torx fasteners at the rear of the steering wheel.
- Carefully lift the airbag module and release its locking connector and horn connection without pulling the wires.
- Store the removed airbag face-up in a safe area away from heat, static electricity and impact.
- Mark the relationship between the wheel hub and steering-column spline.
- Loosen the centre nut with a 19mm deep socket, leaving it engaged by several threads while freeing the wheel.
- Release the wheel from the spline, remove the nut and lift the wheel away carefully.
- Do not rotate or disturb the clock spring while the steering wheel is removed.
- Align the replacement wheel with the original marks and fully seat it on the spline.
- Tighten the retaining nut to the vehicle manufacturer’s specified torque using a torque wrench.
- Reconnect the horn and airbag connectors, secure the module and reconnect the battery.
- Confirm that the SRS warning lamp completes its normal self-test, the horn operates and the wheel is correctly centred.
