1.33 VVT-i IGNITION COIL
Original factory-fit Toyota ignition coil removed from a vehicle application matching the listing data. Supplied as photographed. Designed as a direct pencil-style coil positioned over an individual spark plug.
For this listing, your vehicle should match: TOYOTA YARIS P9 / NSP90 or NSP90R • 1.33 VVT-i petrol • 1NR-FE engine • 11/2008–07/2011 • manufacturer part number 90919-02257.
Do not order solely because your vehicle is described as a Toyota Yaris. Different engines and production periods use different ignition components. Compare your original part number, connector, mounting point and physical shape with the photographs below.
Unsure? Message ThePartPilot through eBay before ordering and provide your registration/VIN plus a clear photograph of the original component.

VERIFIED COMPATIBILITY TABLE
We deliberately avoid adding loosely related cars simply to gain extra search traffic. The table below contains the strongest verified application for this listing.
| Make / Model | Years | Engine | Code | Part Check | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Toyota Yaris MK2 / P9 | 11/2008–07/2011 | 1.33 VVT-i petrol | 1NR-FE • NSP90 / NSP90R | 90919-02257 | CONFIRMED LISTING APPLICATION |
OTHER VEHICLE CROSS-FITMENT — WHY WE HAVE NOT GUESSED
The DENSO cross-reference family is associated with more than one vehicle make, and the 1NR-FE engine is installed in several Toyota models. That alone is not enough evidence to state that every 1NR-FE vehicle accepts this exact coil.
We therefore will not advertise Auris, iQ, Urban Cruiser, later Yaris models or other vehicles as a confirmed fit unless the vehicle-specific manufacturer number is independently matched to 90919-02257 / 099700-1560. This reduces wrong orders and protects the buyer.
❌ DO NOT ORDER FOR THESE APPLICATIONS WITHOUT FURTHER VERIFICATION
| Yaris P9 1.0 VVT-i | 1KR-FE engine — different engine application |
| Earlier 1.3 petrol variants | 2SZ-FE / 2NZ-FE — do not assume interchangeability |
| Yaris diesel | Diesel engines do not use this petrol ignition coil |
| Part number 90919-02256 | Different DENSO cross-reference — do not substitute merely because the number looks similar |
| Different connector / mounting position | Do not force or modify the component |
WHERE IS THIS PART FITTED?
This is a coil-on-plug ignition coil. It sits in the engine bay on top of the cylinder head, with the long insulated boot extending directly down onto an individual spark plug.
| COIL 1 | COIL 2 | COIL 3 | COIL 4 |
Diagram is an explanatory location guide rather than a workshop-manual illustration. Exact engine-cover/access details can vary by vehicle specification.
WHAT DOES THE IGNITION COIL DO?
The vehicle's ignition system requires a much higher voltage than the normal low-voltage electrical supply. The coil uses electromagnetic windings to create the high-voltage energy required at the spark plug.
On a coil-on-plug system, each cylinder has an individual coil positioned directly above its spark plug. This gives the engine management system precise control over spark delivery to that cylinder and removes the need for a traditional distributor and long high-tension ignition lead.
COMMON SYMPTOMS OF A FAILING IGNITION COIL
| ⚠️ Engine misfire on one cylinder | ⚠️ Rough or unstable idle |
| ⚠️ Hesitation during acceleration | ⚠️ Reduced engine power |
| ⚠️ Engine warning light | ⚠️ Misfire-related diagnostic trouble codes |
| ⚠️ Difficult starting in some cases | ⚠️ Increased fuel consumption may occur |
These symptoms can also have other causes, including spark plugs, wiring, injectors, compression issues or engine-management faults. Proper diagnosis is recommended.
WHY CHOOSE AN ORIGINAL FACTORY-FIT COMPONENT?
An original manufacturer component was designed around the vehicle's electrical requirements, plug-well dimensions, connector geometry, mounting position and under-bonnet temperature environment.
Lower-cost pattern alternatives can vary in internal construction, insulation, connector quality and dimensional accuracy. For a component that repeatedly generates very high ignition voltage in a hot, vibrating engine bay, correct specification matters.
A quality recycled original-fit component can also provide substantial savings compared with purchasing the equivalent component brand-new. The exact saving varies by vehicle and current new-part pricing.
CONSTRUCTION & DESIGN
Pencil ignition coils typically combine a heat-resistant moulded housing, insulated internal primary and secondary windings, magnetic core material, encapsulating insulation and a flexible high-voltage boot that seals around the spark-plug well.
The visible component supplied here has a moulded dark housing, integrated electrical connector, metal-reinforced mounting point and long insulated spark-plug boot.

🔧 BASIC FITTING GUIDE
2. Remove any engine cover or access trim required to expose the ignition coils.
3. Identify the faulty cylinder/coil using proper diagnosis rather than replacing parts at random.
4. Release the electrical connector locking tab carefully and disconnect the coil wiring plug.
5. Remove the coil retaining fastener using the correctly sized socket.
6. Pull the ignition coil vertically from the spark-plug well without twisting or levering against the connector.
7. Inspect the plug well for engine oil, water, damaged wiring or contamination. Any underlying leak should be corrected.
8. Compare the replacement coil with the removed unit — part number, length, mounting tab and connector must agree.
9. Push the coil squarely onto the spark plug until fully seated and the boot seals correctly.
10. Refit the retaining bolt to the correct Toyota workshop specification. Do not overtighten.
11. Reconnect the electrical plug until its locking mechanism is positively engaged.
12. Reassemble covers, start the engine and confirm smooth operation.
13. Where applicable, use a diagnostic scanner to clear stored misfire codes and confirm that no active fault remains.
REQUIRED TOOLS
| 🔧 Ratchet | Correct-size socket for coil retaining fastener |
| 🔩 Small extension | Useful where access is restricted |
| 🧰 Torque wrench | Recommended for correct refitting torque |
| 💻 Diagnostic scanner | Recommended for confirming/clearing misfire faults |
| 🔦 Inspection light | Useful for checking plug-well contamination and wiring |

|---|---|---|
| £50/hour | £16.67 | £33.33 |
| £60/hour | £20.00 | £40.00 |
| £70/hour | £23.33 | £46.67 |
| £80/hour | £26.67 | £53.33 |
| £100/hour | £33.33 | £66.67 |
| £120/hour | £40.00 | £80.00 |
Labour figures are examples only. Diagnosis, regional labour rates and additional work can substantially alter the final garage charge.
