Engine examples shown in the current eBay compatibility data
The listing’s compatibility data includes selected petrol, diesel and dual-fuel combinations, including 1.6, 1.6 16V, 1.8 16V, 2.0 DI and 2.0 DTi examples. Do not order by engine size alone: airbag equipment, body configuration, production date, software coding and module ident determine compatibility.
Five-point buyer matching check
- Your module shows 24416703, preferably the full 24416703 DL.
- Your Siemens number is 5WK42977 / 5WK4 2977.
- Your secondary label number is 1923594.
- The two-letter ident is DL, not DM, DN, UU, UW or another code.
- The blue connector, locking tab, casing, mounting points and forward arrow match the photographs.
Do not order this unit for
- Astra F / Mk3.
- Astra H / Mk5 or later generations.
- A module marked 24416704 DM, 5WK42978 or any different primary number/ident.
- A different connector colour, keying, pin arrangement or casing.
- Any vehicle selected only because the exterior shape or engine size looks similar.
- Zafira A unless a competent parts specialist verifies every number and the VIN; this exact DL module is not advertised here as a guaranteed Zafira fit.
What this part does
Monitors
Receives safety-system inputs and continuously monitors relevant SRS circuits, warning-lamp status and internal faults.
Calculates
Processes impact information and vehicle-specific safety logic to determine whether deployment criteria are met.
Controls
Commands configured airbags and seat-belt pretensioners in a qualifying collision and stores diagnostic or crash-event data.
Possible symptoms of a faulty or crash-locked module
- Airbag / SRS warning lamp remains illuminated after the normal self-test.
- No communication with the SRS control unit during diagnostics.
- Internal-control-module or configuration fault codes.
- Crash-event data stored following an airbag or pretensioner deployment.
- Intermittent restraint-system warning or communication faults.
- Airbags or pretensioners reported as disabled.
- Replacement module rejected because the ident, software or fitted restraint options do not match.
- Warning lamp returns after clearing codes because another SRS component or wiring fault remains.
These symptoms are not proof that the module itself is faulty. Wiring, connectors, pretensioners, airbags, clockspring, seat wiring, impact sensors, low voltage and previous repairs can produce similar symptoms. Diagnose before replacing parts.
Why choose a matching manufacturer-original part
Designed for the vehicle system
A correctly matched factory-specified module provides the expected connector, mounting geometry, orientation, communications and restraint-system configuration. Cheap unverified copies or visually similar modules can introduce coding errors, warning lights, poor fit and additional labour.
Value and sustainability
A serviceable pre-owned original-manufacturer component can cost substantially less than a new replacement. Depending on the part and current new price, savings may be as much as 70%; actual savings vary. Reusing suitable components also reduces demand for new raw materials and keeps serviceable parts in circulation.
Professional fitting guide
Recommended tools
- Vehicle-compatible diagnostic scan tool with SRS capability.
- Plastic trim-removal tools.
- Torx driver set; exact trim fasteners vary by model and specification.
- Metric socket/spanner set, ratchet and extensions.
- Low-range torque wrench and manufacturer torque data.
- Suitable electrical-safety and anti-static precautions.
Estimated repair time
Typical professional allowance: 1.0–2.0 hours.
Time varies with body style, trim removal, seized or damaged fasteners, diagnostic work, coding/configuration, crash-data status and any additional SRS faults.
Fitting service: available subject to technician and workshop availability. Please contact us through eBay Messages before travelling or ordering.
High-level installation sequence
- Read and save all SRS diagnostic trouble codes before disconnecting anything. Confirm the replacement module’s numbers and ident against the removed unit.
- Switch the ignition off, remove the key, disconnect the battery using the manufacturer-approved SRS isolation procedure and observe the specified discharge waiting time.
- Remove the necessary centre-console / centre-tunnel trim without pulling or damaging wiring.
- Release the connector lock and disconnect the SRS ECU plug without forcing the pins or connector body.
- Remove the module fasteners. Check the mounting surface for corrosion, moisture, distortion or evidence of collision damage.
- Install the replacement unit in the correct orientation, with the FORWARD arrow facing the front of the vehicle. Tighten fasteners to the approved torque.
- Reconnect the plug fully, refit trim, restore the battery connection according to the workshop procedure and keep the cabin clear during first power-up.
- Use an SRS-capable scan tool to check communications, coding/configuration and fault status. Programme or configure the module where required.
- Clear eligible faults and verify that the warning lamp completes its normal self-test. Do not release the vehicle until the full restraint system passes diagnosis.
Static garage labour estimator
Because eBay does not allow JavaScript/active-content calculators, this table gives instant estimates. Multiply the garage’s hourly rate by the actual labour time quoted.
| Garage labour rate | 1.0 hour | 1.5 hours | 2.0 hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| £50 per hour | £50 | £75 | £100 |
| £60 per hour | £60 | £90 | £120 |
| £80 per hour | £80 | £120 | £160 |
| £100 per hour | £100 | £150 | £200 |
| £120 per hour | £120 | £180 | £240 |
Illustrative labour only. Diagnostics, coding, crash-data services, additional repairs, consumables and taxes charged by the fitting garage may be extra.
