1. Switch off the ignition, remove the key and protect the dashboard and glass.
2. Carefully release the upper mirror/sensor trim cover with a plastic tool. Do not lever against the windscreen.
3. Disconnect the electrical plug without pulling the wiring.
4. Release the retaining clips and lift the sensor away from its windscreen bracket.
5. Inspect the bracket and optical gel. Clean the glass contact area with a lint-free cloth and fit the correct new gel pad where required.
6. Fit the sensor squarely with no trapped air, reconnect the plug and refit the trim.
7. Set the wipers to automatic mode and test using water on the sensor area. Scan for stored faults if operation remains incorrect.
