WHERE IS THIS PART FITTED?
This caliper is fitted at the front-left wheel. On a UK right-hand-drive Zafira this is normally described as the front passenger-side / near-side front.
The caliper forms a critical part of the hydraulic braking system. When the brake pedal is pressed, hydraulic pressure acts on the caliper piston. The caliper applies the brake pads against the rotating brake disc, converting the vehicle's kinetic energy into heat and slowing the wheel.
Because the component directly controls braking force at one front wheel, correct side, piston specification, mounting arrangement and brake-system application are essential.
POSSIBLE SIGNS OF A FAILING CALIPER
- Vehicle pulling to one side during braking
- One front wheel becoming unusually hot
- Burning smell after driving
- Uneven or accelerated brake-pad wear
- Brake binding or wheel resistance
- Reduced braking efficiency
- Brake-fluid leakage around the caliper
- Corroded or seized piston
- Sticking slider mechanism
- Abnormal braking noise
WHY BUY A USED ORIGINAL-EQUIPMENT PART?
| Used Original-Equipment Component | Low-Cost Pattern Alternative |
|---|---|
| Produced for the vehicle manufacturer's specified application | Specification and manufacturing quality can vary by manufacturer |
| Known mounting geometry when reference is correctly matched | Aftermarket interpretation of original specification |
| Reuses an existing serviceable component | Requires manufacture of another replacement component |
| Can offer substantial savings compared with buying the equivalent component new | Price and quality vary substantially |
Used vehicle components can in some cases save up to approximately 70% compared with purchasing new, depending on the component and current new-part price.
FITTING OVERVIEW
The following is a general workshop overview, not a substitute for the manufacturer's repair procedure.
- Secure the vehicle on level ground and loosen the appropriate wheel fasteners.
- Raise the vehicle at the specified lifting point and support it safely with approved axle stands or workshop lift.
- Remove the front-left wheel.
- Inspect the brake hose, disc, pads and surrounding components.
- Remove the existing caliper using the manufacturer's prescribed procedure.
- Prevent uncontrolled brake-fluid loss and never allow the flexible brake hose to support the caliper's weight.
- Install the replacement caliper and associated hardware as specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Torque all fasteners to the correct vehicle-specific specification.
- Bleed the hydraulic braking system using the correct brake fluid and procedure.
- Check carefully for hydraulic leaks.
- Reinstall the wheel and torque wheel fasteners to manufacturer specification.
- Confirm a firm brake pedal before moving the vehicle.
- Carry out a controlled brake-function test before normal road use.
Typical Workshop Equipment
Workshop lift or jack and axle stands • wheel-removal tools • suitable socket/spanner set • torque wrench • brake hose/line tools where required • piston/caliper tools • brake bleeding equipment • approved brake cleaner • correct specification brake fluid • appropriate PPE.

We can compare the vehicle specification against the available part information before purchase.
Do not rely solely on registration year. Manufacturers can change brake specifications during a model's production life. Matching the stamped/cast reference on your existing component and VIN-based vehicle specification is the safest method.
