WHAT THE MIRROR DOES
Rearward visibility
Provides the driver with a central view through the rear window for normal driving, reversing awareness and lane observations.
Manual night position
The lower flip tab changes the viewing angle to reduce glare from following headlights without an electrical supply.
Cabin safety component
A stable, correctly adjusted mirror is essential for observation. Replace a mirror that cannot remain secure or provide a clear view.
COMMON FAULT SYMPTOMS
The ball joint or mounting foot no longer holds the selected position, causing the image to move while driving.
Damaged, delaminated or deteriorated glass can obstruct the rearward view and make distance judgement harder.
The day/night lever does not stay in position, feels broken or no longer reduces glare correctly.
The mirror will not lock securely to the windscreen button, or the neck/housing is cracked after impact.
FITTING INSTRUCTIONS — TWIST-LOCK MOUNT SHOWN
- Park safely, switch the ignition off and protect the dashboard and glass with a clean cloth.
- Support the mirror housing with both hands. Do not pull sharply away from the windscreen or lever against the glass.
- For the twist-lock mount shown, carefully rotate the old mirror approximately 90° counter-clockwise to release it from the bonded windscreen button.
- Compare the old and replacement mounting feet before fitting. Stop if the profiles differ.
- Align the replacement foot with the windscreen button and rotate approximately 90° clockwise until fully seated.
- Adjust the mirror, operate the manual day/night tab and confirm the assembly remains secure without vibration.
Required tools
Normally none for an intact twist-lock windscreen button. A clean cloth and gloves are recommended.
Estimated repair time
Approximately 5–10 minutes for a straightforward mirror swap by a competent person.
Important glass warning
If the metal windscreen button has detached, do not reuse ordinary glue. Windscreen-button preparation, the correct specialist adhesive and curing time are separate operations.
